Maple and Cinnamon Apple Porridge

YOU WILL NEED

FOR THE PORRIDGE

150g Rolled oats

500 ml Semi-skimmed milk

500 ml Water

FOR THE TOPPING

Large knob Unsalted butter

3 Eating apples, peeled, cored and roughly chopped

2 tbspns Clarks Maple Syrup

1 tspn Ground cinnamon

To serve Clarks Maple Syrup

HOW TO MAKE

  1. Place the butter in a non- stick medium frying pan and gently heat until the butter has melted.

  2. Add the apples and cinnamon and cook over a low heat for 6 – 8 minutes until the apples are beginning to soften.

  3. Add the Maple Syrup and cook for 1 – 2 minutes until the apples are soft but still maintain their shape

  4. Meanwhile combine the oats, milk and water in a medium saucepan. Stir well and place over a high heat until the mixture begins to boil. Turn the heat down and stir continuously for 4 -5 minutes until the thick and smooth.

  5. Divide the porridge between 4 warm bowls.

  6. Top the porridge with the maple syrup apple mixture and serve with Clarks Maple Syrup

NOTE

To cook the porridge in the microwave – place 40 g rolled oats in non metallic bowl. Add 285 of milk and water combined. Heat on full power for 1 minute. Stir and cook for a further 1 minute. Leave to stand for 30 seconds before serving.
